Student Work

I always try to motivate my students to produce work they can publish in some form. Whether as a portfolio piece demonstrating their skills with the end result, documenting and showing the learning and iteration process along the way, or even publishing a complete game project for anyone to play I am often quite proud of the strides and progress my students consistently show. Below is a selection of student work and projects produced under my guidance in my classes over the years.

Xenture

Created as a group project by students in Traditional Game Development online/remote class during the Summer 2021 semester, this project really impressed in polish and scope. I guided the students throughout the semester and assisted the team in UI creation for their drag and drop inventory system. This game was also later published to Steam in November 2021

Goom

Student game project developed during my Spring 2023 semester Traditional Game Development class. I guided the group throughout the semester and offered feedback on their color and shape language throughout. Also helped conduct in and out of class playtests. The game can be found and played on Itch.io

Pip's Journey

A physics-based puzzle platformer, this student group project was created in Traditional Game Development during the Fall 2021 semester. Once again guided and instructed over the semester and offered feedback for puzzles and solutions/hints as well as helped troubleshoot odd physics problems eventually landing on a solution that fit the scope of the class. This game can also be found and played on Itch.io

All In A Day's Work!

An animated short created for Machinima during the Spring 2023 semester, this video comes from the in-engine real-time cinematics created in Unreal Engine's Sequencer Editor. Class instruction includes asset and animation creation and implementation as well as setting up cameras and their movement in Unreal to create a short cinematic. For this project, I also make a cameo appearance as the voice of one of the characters. The full Machinima can be viewed on YouTube
